The wonderful links at Co. Sligo G.C was the venue for our President Michael Moss’s prize this year.
While once again we suffered a drop off in those who initially registered to play and those who actually turned up, we still had sufficient numbers to keep our sponsor happy. However, it is a matter of concern to the board and begs the question why do we have sponsors at all, if we don’t bother to turn up for sponsored events. I know there were a number of unavoidable cry offs, but to lose the number we did without any apologies to our President is really bad form.
David O’Donovan, the genial host and GM of Co. Sligo, laid on a terrific course for us to play and with conditions so difficult on the Monday due to high winds, only 3 people managed to score over 30 points. Our winner Niall Carroll (33) our runner up, Tom Whelan (also 33) and third place David O’Donovan (31). The rest all finished in the 20’s. In fact, 26 points won a prize, on countback and that was Bernard Gibbons.
We had two club Presidents in our mix, Tom Prendergast, President in Killarney and Pat McCarthy President at Shannon G.C. Great to see them both. A number of guests were present too which brought the numbers up a little and the full prize winners are listed below.
1st Niall Carroll 33 points (Back Nine)
2nd Tom Whelan 33 points
3rd David O’Donovan 31 points
4th John McCormack 27 points (back nine)
5th Paddy Dean 27 points

Finally, the day would not have been possible without the support of Susan White & Premium Credit, who along with her colleague Michael Fitzgerald, ensured we had a great day with excellent prizes. We ask that you support them in any way you can. Their product is excellent, giving clubs immediate cash flow while allowing members to spread their annual sub over 10 months and or their entry fee over a year or a number of years, as suits.
