Loads of Jobs!
The latest raft of appointments in the industry has seen a number of managers moving cubs with the gaps being rapidly filled by others. Newlands GC, Lucan GC are currently seeking GM’s while Portmarnock are seeking a Golf Operations Manager. See details elsewhere in our Jobs/ Appointments section. In addition Dundalk GC are on the cusp of appointing a new manager for the first time in 10 years. A very significant step for a big club in the North East.
Elsewhere Liam Murphy, GM at Co.Louth GC, was voted Manager of the Year recently and richly deserved it was too.
MDP Taster Day
We held an MDP taster Day at Portmarnock Links Hotel recently which saw a few new faces from the club industry popping up and very welcome they were too. One attendee told us it was the best day’s training he’d ever experienced!. We plan to hold an MDP 1 in March 2020 at Portmarnock Links Hotel, so if you’re keen to attend please drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org . It's well worth your time and expense.
Time for Change
This time of year sees the end of the Financial year for most clubs and December sees the usual round of AGM’s. New committees are formed, new Captains and Presidents come into office and it can be a very stressful time for the manager of the club, dealing with new faces and new demands. If you’re experiencing issues here pick up the phone and call a fellow manager. Help is never too far away. Then make an appointment to meet the new officers, especially the ones directly concerned with you, try and determine their expectations, and then discuss with them how you can help them meet those expectations. In this way you might head off any future conflicts and once again prove your value to the newbies. You could worse than look up Robert A. Sereci CCM, GM/COO at Medinah Country Club. He’s written a whole 16 part series on what to do with your new President. He’s on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/posts/robertsereci_clubchangemaker-activity-6594654453540937728-r_mX.
BRS GolfNow Christmas Hampers
Our annual Hampers competition took place once again in the links at Royal Dublin. Thanks to the Committee of RDGC and Jeff Fallon, GM for their courtesy of the course. Despite the terrible wet and windy conditions we had a good day and once again, Sean O’Neill headed the field with 33 points, only bettered on the day by Matt Sands’ guest Michael O ‘Farrell with 34. Thanks to Ryan Bell form BRS Golf Now for their sponsorship .
